Actavis closely monitors its environmental, health & safety performance. Key Performance Indicators include proactive measures such as Near Miss / Safety Observation Rate. Employees are encouraged to report hazards in their workplace. Our aim is to identify and investigate as many hazards as possible so that action can be taken to prevent incidents. This programme has been very successful.

Site inspections focused on environmental, health & safety are an important element of our management systems. In the last few years management have become more involved in site EHS inspections and we believe that this is having a positive impact on EHS performance.

Incident rates are calculated per 100 employees (200,000 hours worked). Our 2011 Lost Work Day (LWD) case rate was 0.35 and the Total Recordable Incident case rate was 0.97. The trend over the last six years is positive, rates have decreased by over 50% in that period. Despite the achievement, Actavis remains fully committed to further improving standards and preventing workplace injuries and illnesses.
