Actavis' principal research and development site is in Iceland.

A finished form R&D facility is currently being established in Chennai, India. This new facility will focus on all major solid dosage forms, including development of OTC (over-the-counter) products. This unit will also house a new stability centre that will take on a large part of the stability work which is currently being done in Europe and the US.

Lotus Laboratories in Bangalore, India continues to play an important role in Actavis’ R&D capabilities. Actavis continues to strengthen Lotus Laboratories’ operation, including its bio-analytical and clinical capacity where the unit now has a capacity of over 300 beds.

Actavis’ API development facility was opened in December 2006. In April 2008, Actavis’ capacity for developing APIs was further expanded with the acquisition of a 90% share in Zhejiang Chiral Medicine Chemicals Company, in China.
