Established in 1959, the Turkish company FAKO joined the Actavis Group in 2003. It employs about 1100 personnel and continues to be one of the country’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturers.
Actavis Turkey produces finished pharmaceuticals in three plants in Levent facilities and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in Ayazaga, both located in Istanbul. The Levent facility has three plants for penicillin, cephalosporins and non-beta lactam, producing solid dose, liquids and parenteral formulations. The non-beta lactam plant is MCA approved (Medicines Control Agency, UK) and the API plant has FDA approval.
A large sales force organised in nine regions oversees the sale of generic pharmaceuticals in the Turkish market.
Actavis Turkey has 38 products in the market at the moment, and there are 8 products planned to be launched in 2008. 1 launch has been completed in the first quarter of 2008.
