Iceland is home to Actavis' headquarters and has been the scene of a continuous Actavis presence since 1956.
The Actavis Group's subsidiaries in Iceland comprise its Third-party sales division, Medis, and the manufacturing operations of Actavis hf.
Actavis Iceland
Actavis hf. operates two production plants in Iceland, each of which complies with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards, along with two development facilities.
Located close to the country’s capital, Reykjavik, Actavis' main production plant commenced operations in 1998 and was developed with the needs of Western European markets in mind. The facility has received a number of awards for design excellence.
The other Actavis manufacturing and marketing facility in Iceland produces generic products for the domestic market.
Medis
A major feature of Actavis' Icelandic operation is the sale of products and intellectual property in the form of registration dossiers.
Such sales are managed by Actavis' Third-party sales division, trading under the name of Medis. A company with extensive experience in generic pharmaceuticals, Medis offers a wide portfolio of products and intellectual property to other pharmaceutical companies. Medis also operates in Germany and the UK.
